Recap: adidas ZX 8000 JC & MT Release – Community, Cold Weather, and Powerful Emotions
On January 17, 2026, it once again became clear at AM TACHELES what an Overkill release is all about: dedication, unity, and a deep passion for sneaker culture. The camp-out for the adidas ZX 8000 JC & MT began during the night from Thursday to Friday, and despite freezing temperatures, several hundred people showed up and stayed the course.
Doors opened at 10:00 AM, followed by the panel talk at 11:00 AM, and the start of the sneaker sale at 12:00 PM. It was obvious early on that this would be a special day. During the night, the campers were taken care of by adidas Confirmed, who provided coffee, thermal blankets, and hand warmers – all fully branded, turning them into functional essentials as well as collectible keepsakes for fans and collectors alike.
A BoConcept chill-out lounge offered a space to relax away from the hustle of the release, while free drinks courtesy of Paulaner kept everyone refreshed throughout the day. On the music side, Bernard from deadHYPE set the tone early on before handing over the decks to Jens aka DJ JNS later in the day.
One of the key highlights was the panel talk, which drew around 200 attendees. The panel featured Jacques Chassaign, Eyüp Alkan and Marc Leuschner, hosted by Jens. The most emotional moment came when Marc shared his wish to one day create a sneaker with adidas as a tribute to our late friend Zetti. When Eyüp, representing adidas, confirmed on the spot that this tribute would become a reality, the room erupted in thunderous applause, a truly unforgettable moment.
By the end of the day, the yellow adidas ZX 8000 JC & MT were completely sold out, as were the blue pairs, which later also sold online. For those who missed out on the yellow colorway, there was still a second chance: a raffle machine offered codes that allowed winners to purchase the shoes via the adidas Confirmed app and some were lucky enough to walk away with a win.
All in all, this release once again proved what makes our community so special: solidarity, respect, and genuine enthusiasm – even in the cold and after long hours of waiting. Thank you to everyone who helped make this day one to remember.
