adidas ZX 8000 “France” Release Recap: A Weekend with the ZX Family

Last Saturday, we celebrated more than just the release of one of the rarest adidas ZX 8000 colorways ever created; we celebrated the community that has kept the ZX legacy alive for decades. For the launch of the adidas ZX 8000 "France", sneaker enthusiasts began lining up as early as Friday morning, proving once again that true passion doesn't depend on the weather. Despite the rain on Saturday morning, the atmosphere remained positive from start to finish.

The former Overkill Women's Store became the home of the ZX Family for the day. Decorated with visuals from the Made in France campaign, the space was transformed into a tribute to one of the most legendary chapters in adidas ZX history. Our friends from Studio Lineé completed the setup with a beautiful floral installation inspired by the sneaker's signature color palette, adding another thoughtful detail to the experience. Blue refreshments and custom-made blue macarons tied everything together, perfectly reflecting the iconic colors of the release.

As with every great ZX release, the day was about much more than buying sneakers. Collectors, longtime ZX enthusiasts, and first-time visitors came together to exchange stories, discuss favorite colorways, and celebrate everything that makes the adidas ZX series so unique. Conversations naturally drifted from the Torsion System and the legacy of Jacques Chassaing and Markus Thaler to personal memories of past releases, creating exactly what we had hoped for: a relaxed and authentic ZX Family get-together.

The release itself ran smoothly, with the limited pairs finding new homes in an organized and respectful atmosphere. Many visitors travelled long distances just to be part of this special launch and experience the return of a true ZX Holy Grail in person. At the same time as the release in Berlin, the sale also took place at our Cologne store. Here, too, the ZX community was well represented, as usual.

For us, the adidas ZX 8000 France represented far more than another sneaker release. Together with adidas, we had the opportunity to bring back one of the rarest chapters in ZX history as a faithful Special Make-Up (SMU) edition, proving once again that the passion for the ZX franchise remains stronger than ever.

A huge thank you to everyone who camped out, braved the rain, and shared the day with us. Seeing so many familiar faces and meeting new members of the community reminded us exactly why the ZX series continues to hold such a special place in sneaker culture.

See you at the next ZX Family gathering.
