The ASICS GEL-NYC combines technical 2000s running DNA with a modern lifestyle silhouette, incorporating characteristic elements from several classic ASICS models. The upper takes inspiration from the GEL-NIMBUS 3, combining its dynamic lines with details from the GEL-MC PLUS V. Breathable dark brown to almost black mesh underlays form the base, while layered suede overlays in light taupe, beige and stony grey-brown shades add structure. The Black Coffee / Sepia Brown colorway therefore appears as a multi-layered combination of dark coffee and sepia tones with noticeably lighter, earthy contrasts. Cream-white ASICS stripes, laces and sole sections further break up the design. Dark brown, glossy GEL elements create distinctive accents within the voluminous sole. Technically, the sole construction is based on the GEL-CUMULUS 16 and combines lightweight foam with GEL technology in the forefoot and rearfoot. This provides the ASICS GEL-NYC with comfortable cushioning for everyday wear, while the textured outsole supports reliable grip. The combination of mesh, suede and technical details completes the characteristic retro-runner look.
