With the adidas ZX 8094 Overkill, OVERKILL and adidas Consortium are introducing a completely new silhouette as part of “The Missing Link” pack—and the answer to a question that was never actually asked: What would a ZX have looked like if the design worlds of ZX and Equipment had merged in 1994?
The ZX 8094 brings together two of the most influential adidas franchises of the early ’90s in a single shoe. Its foundation comes from the four-digit ZX series: the tooling and the characteristic stitched heel counter draw on elements of the iconic ZX 8000. This is balanced by key design elements from the EQT Support 91. The TPU cage, upper, and materials are inspired by the Equipment silhouette, making the ZX 8094 a true hybrid of two distinct adidas design languages.
The colorway also bridges the gap between these two worlds. A subdued base is accented with the unmistakable EQT green—a color that epitomizes the Equipment era like no other and is featured, among other places, on the Three Stripes.
The ZX 8094 is rounded out by special OVERKILL branding on the heel, insole, tongue label, and Torsion bar. Two additional pairs of laces and another pair of co-branded lace tags offer further opportunities for customization.
The adidas ZX 8094 Overkill is thus not a retro reissue of a forgotten model, but a new design built from familiar elements—a missing link between ZX and EQT, the past, and an alternative version of what could have emerged in 1994.
